Video Of The Day
I laugh.. but I feel bad about it.
I was taken down memory lane this morning. My boy D.T. found our old demo going through an old box of his. This was sent to the label he was working at at the time. Nonetheless, they didn’t sign us. Haha. But I’m going to put these bad boys up. They are original demo versions of “Its Kinda Like A Bodybag” & “The Heart of a Traitor”. I actually kind of prefer this version of “Bodybag”, but I’m unsure if you’ll be able to tell the difference really. Enjoy

I’ve been listening to a lot of Etta James lately. Can’t find that many live videos of her though. There’s tons of amazing singers in the world but, in my somewhat meaningless opinion, only a few of them really had that “it” factor where they were more than just “singers”; more than mere entertainers but people who actually became the music itself. It’s kind of hard for me to explain. It’s kind of like Stevie Ray Vaughan and his guitar abilities – he was more than just a guitar player to me. He completely immersed and embodied himself as one entity to the point that your jaw involuntarily drops muttering, “How the FUCK does he do that?”. It’s pure heart and soul that’s untainted by any outside influence. And I think a talent like that is something you’re born with. I don’t think it’s something you can practice your whole life in hopes of attaining one day. It’s impossible. It makes him an untouchable.
Like I said, there is amazing singers and musicians in the world, but only a few really possess that “I’m-from-another-planet” factor. So yeah, I love coming across and studying performers that belong in that category: Etta James, Stevie Ray, Freddie Mercury, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, and of course, Bob Dylan. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Refused, Jimmy Eat World, and all those other bands that are considered uncool to not like; but it’s just not on that “level” like the aforementioned above.
I leave you with a video of Stevie Ray doing his brilliant cover of “Little Wing” by Hendrix. I remember as a kid listening to records with my Dad and he always played me this version of the song saying, “Hendrix was amazing and it’s very rare to come across a cover song that is done better than the original – but Stevie does it on this one.” And I couldn’t agree more with my Dad on it.
An interview I did for my best friend Aaron over @ Decoymusic.com is up. Answers lots of questions to do with Underminded, Isles & Glaciers, and tons of other nonsense. I even profess my love for Seal’s new record.
This guy fails at life. Watch it on repeat about 10 times – it gets funnier and funnier after each watch.
Note: The guy sitting on the couch is completely unamused the whole time.
Enjoy.
Woke up this morning to news about Coachella coming up this year. I will definitely be in attendance for this. A lot of great bands this year actually. My guilty pleasure of the whole line-up: Amy Winehouse. I hope she doesn’t bail on it last minute. Also stoked to see that Public Enemy and Mike Patton w/Rahzel are on the bill. Who do you want to see?

Check out this site called F*** My Life.
Here were some of my favorite quotes:
Today, my boyfriend told me that he was gay and that he is in love with my younger brother.
Today, my mom asked me for advice on how to give a good blow job. I’m a guy.
Today, I danced with a girl until the bar closed. We went back to my place. She had a penis.
I got my hands on one of these bad boys late last year and they’re finally seeing the light of day now. There’s only a 1000 of them in existence. Get up on it!
